Some details and rough RTA measurements of the unholy union.

2" Tangband W2-803SM full-range.

JBL 2386.

DBX 223 XL

Audacity on Linux (generating pink noise)

Phonic PAA2 measuring non weighted.

The measurement setup :

The driver and circuit complement :

Measurement with HP set at 45Hz 24dB/Oct 1M:

Measurement with HP set at 250Hz 24dB/Oct 1M:

Measurement with HP set at 350Hz 24dB/Oct 1M (prefered):

It sounds a lot better then the graphs would have you believe, and the SPL capacity is greater the the drivers would have you belive.

Here's an approximated summary SPL graph result :

testing the competition :)

A follow up on the same set of tests couple of friends of mine, and myself, undertook previously at this location, last time it was a heavy THAM15 focused operation, this time it was a blend between a really nice system and my own unholy unions.

The dark grey system was built by a friend of mine, nicknamed SlaitH, which was a delight to hear, at all levels, my own contribution consisted of a pair of THAM10 and a... well... 2" tangband fullrange speakers loaded on JBL 2386 2" horns...

A great day for sure, and you will be surprised, positively so, what amount of levels a pair of 2" drivers can muster up when horn loaded :)

TPAM10HTL - like the TPAM10HT, only more.

Designed shortly after the TPAM10HT and is to be regarded as a preferred design of the two if you are scouting for a 26-90Hz sub to use in HT or hi-fi applications.

It does not reach as far down in the deep as the TPAM10HT which can offer a solid 20Hz reproduction, but compensates greatly for this by it's higher sensitivity, greater definition and SPL capacity, all in the same size.

When compared in room the difference in lower frequency cut off is hardly noticeable between the two, the character in favor of the THPAM10HTL is however most definitely noticeable.

The design below is intended for the 10NW64 from B&C, and allows for the driver to be mounted with the cone visible, this is why there is a double baffle, to create the depth required (>100mm) for the drive assembly (magnet).

Simulation input data for Hornresp is included in the picture above, so please feel free to experiment with other drivers, just pay due attention to the mounting depth as stated above, simulations will be provided shortly.

The second top most brace is not dimensioned with regards to its position along the path, but this oversight is not critical, just put it roughly where you see fit.

Material used is 15mm Plywood.
